Pariksha Pe Charcha

In order to facilitate and enhance the academic environment for the students, a ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ event is conducted annually under the leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. Under this event, the Prime Minister interacts with the students, teachers and parents from all across the country where valuable opinions regarding academic stress and the ways to reduce it are duly discussed. In order to keep up with this spirit, the live telecast of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha 2023’ was shown to the teachers and students of classes V-VIII on January 27’ 2023 at 11 am. Watching the event on a virtual platform enabled the students to be in touch with the academic dynamism and areas of concern. The teachers and students also showed their solemnity towards the event by taking a pledge to abide by the aims of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’. The day concluded wherein a spirit of mindfulness and a new perspective regarding academics was inculcated amongst all.
Republic Day Celebrations

With great fervour and zeal, Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh, celebrated the 74th Republic Day on January 26’ 2023, within the school premises along with the faculty members and students of classes IV-VIII. The celebrations commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony by our esteemed Chairman Sir, Mr. Sahibjeet Singh Sandhu and Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta, followed by National Anthem and a musical performance by our students of classes VI-VIII, which instilled patriotic feelings in each heart. Later, our Chairman Sir addressed the students and voiced his lucid opinions on the significance of the day.
Lohri Celebrations

In order to commemorate the harvesting season and seek divine blessings, the students and staff of Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh, celebrated the festival of Lohri on January 13’ 2023. The students were greeted and told about the significance of the festival during the online session. An auspicious bonfire was lit in the school premises and everybody was filled with a sense of happiness and gaiety. The event was graced by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta and Vice- principal ma’am, Mrs. Parv Sandhu Makkar.
Annual Festival

Nurturing the inner talent of students in multiple ways is an essential component of letting the child learn, grow and develop. With this thought in mind and to commemorate the occasion of Christmas, Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh, organised an ‘Annual Fiesta’ on December 23’ 2022 for the students of class Nursery. The toddlers presented an immense show of skills by their role- play. The ‘Story of the birth of Christ’ and ‘Life of Santa Claus’ were the main highlights of the day. The event was graced with the presence of the parents of our young ones, in front of whom, the children could not contain their excitement. The day culminated with an appreciation speech by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta, who acknowledged the whole- hearted efforts of our tiny tots.

Church Visit

Trip to Chandigarh Botanical Park

In order to inculcate critical thinking abilities of the students and augment their scientific knowledge, an educational field trip to ‘Chandigarh Botanical Park’ was conducted for the students of classes V-VIII on December 17’ 2022 by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh. The students were taken to the Herbal Garden where they came across a plethora of plant species, each known for a unique purpose. They were also taken to the energy park and museum where several scientific laws were explained with corresponding models. The trip proved to be very fruitful for everyone as it allowed students to develop scientific temper and broaden their thinking horizon.
Show and Tell competition

With a view to augment the verbal skills of students, a ‘Show and Tell’ competition was held for classes I-IV on November 19’ 2022 by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh. The students exhibited immense confidence during the competition and used several fancy props to supplement their performances. Every student performed to the best of their capabilities and presented their thoughts with utmost clarity. The winners were appreciated and felicitated with certificates of merit in a special assembly by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta.
Armed Forces Flag Day

In order to commemorate the ‘Armed Forces Flag Day’, an informative session highlighting the sacrifices and courage of the army personnel was conducted for the students on December 7’ 2022 by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh. The students were sensitised about the obstacles that our armed forces undergo to secure the borders of our nation. They were also told about the valiant heroes who laid their lives serving the nation. Special emphasis was given on the rehabilitation and resettlement of ex-servicemen during the session. The students as well as the faculty members proudly wore the flags depicting the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The day ended with a sense of pride in each heart and determination to serve the country selflessly in each mind.
Market Explorer

EVS topics are made interesting through hands-on-activities in early childhood. With this aim, a vegetable and fruit market was set up as a reinforcement to the theme of the month ‘Market Explorer’ by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on November 26’ 2022. The children had a fun-filled experience of selling and buying vegetables and fruits from their peers. They were excited while using the weighing scale and pretending to be vegetable and fruit vendors and buyers. The enriching experience gave the students an opportunity to showcase not only their proficiency in marketing but also to enhance their social speaking skills.
Role Play competition

With a view to strengthen the speaking and demonstration skills of the students, a ‘Role Play’ competition on the theme ‘Your Dream Profession’ was organised by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on November 21’ 2022. The students were dressed up as doctors, teachers, army officers, farmers, cricketers etc. and expressed their ideas behind the choice of a particular profession. The competition not only gave them a platform to exhibit their competencies but also allowed them to eliminate stage fear and give words to their thoughts. The winners were appreciated by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta, for their creativity and fluency.
Special Assembly

With an aim to sensitise the students about the significance of a clean environment, a ‘Special Assembly’ was organised for the students of Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh. The assembly commenced with the school prayer followed by the thought of the day. An awareness speech on ‘Swacchta Jaagrukta’ was disseminated in order to enlighten the students about the increasing need to adopt environment friendly practices. The main focus was to mould the outlook of the students towards the environment and to allow them to inculcate eco-friendly habits to make the world a better place to live in.

Dussehra Celebration

Dussehra, also known as ‘Vijayadashami’, is one of the biggest festivals celebrated in the country. This festival marks the celebration of victory of Lord Rama over the demon King Ravana. To commemorate this occasion, a Dussehra celebration was organised by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 4th October, 2022. After the students of classes II-III staged a short play on ‘Ramayana’, the guest of honour, our chairman sir, Mr. Sahibjeet Singh Sandhu, along with principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta and vice- principal ma’am, Ms. Parv Sandhu Makkar, lit the effigy of Ravana. The burning of the effigy not only symbolised the victory of good over evil but also instilled the feeling of righteousness among the students.
Poster making competition

With an aim to sensitise the students about the significance of a clean and green environment, a ‘Poster making competition’ was organised for the students by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 24th September, 2022. The students exhibited their talent and prepared creative posters on the theme ‘Banning the use of plastic’ and the ‘3 R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’. The winners were appreciated for their innovation and awarded with certificates of merit by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta.
A Healthy tiffin competition

A Healthy tiffin competition was organised in Paragon Convent School on 24th September,2022 to inculcate healthy eating habits amongst student. The winners of class 2 were facilitated with certificates by our worthy Principal Mam in the special assembly.

Physical activity

Physical activity is vital for children’s health, well-being and overall development, especially during early childhood. With this aim, our little kindergarteners at Paragon Convent School practiced various exercises in order to strengthen their coordination, balance, posture and flexibility. These exercises were conducted to enable students to stay healthy and utilise their energy.

With an aim to enlighten the students about the significance of healthy eating habits, a ‘Tricolor and Rainbow Thali competition’ was organised for the students by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 24th September, 2022. The students participated enthusiastically in the competition and prepared a plethora of nutritious food items. The winners were appreciated for their mindfulness and creativity in a Special Assembly and were awarded with certificates of merit by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta.
Diwali celebration

Rangoli making competition

In order to propagate Indian customs, hone the aesthetic skills of students and to commemorate the occasion of ‘Diwali’, an inter-house ‘Rangoli making competition’ was organised for the students of classes VI-VIII by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 20th October, 2022. The students prepared creative and colourful rangolis using eco-friendly materials such as grains, flowers and coloured sawdust. The beautiful hues and lively patterns presented via rangolis created an atmosphere of auspiciousness and gaiety. The winners of the competition were appreciated by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta, for their successful amalgamation of art and culture.
Candle decoration competition

With a view to hone the artistic skills of students and to commemorate the occasion of ‘Diwali’, a ‘Candle decoration competition’ was organised for the students of class I by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 20th October, 2022. The students exhibited immense creativity while decorating the candles using glitters, colours, beads, ribbons and so much more. The winners were praised and congratulated by our Director sir Mr.Sahibjeet Singh Sandhu, Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta and vice Principal ma’am Mrs Parv Sandhu Makkar for their exemplary ideas.
Diya making competition

In order to enhance the students’ creative expression and to commemorate the occasion of ‘Diwali’, a ‘ *Diya making competition* ’ was organised for the students of *classes II-III* by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 20th October, 2022. The students displayed their talent by etching out beautiful designs on the Diyas while simultaneously giving them a touch of Indian ethnicity. The winners of the competition were duly acknowledged by our Director sir Mr. Sahibjeet Singh Sandhu, Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta and vice Principal ma’am Mrs. Parv Sandhu Makkar for their display of excellence.
Diwali celebration

Diwali, popularly known as the ‘Festival of lights’, is one of the biggest festivals celebrated with great pomp and show across the country. This festival symbolises the victory of inner light over spiritual darkness. To commemorate this occasion, a Diwali celebration was organised by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on 20th October, 2022. The students of classes VI- VIII not only showcased wonderful performances on various songs but also staged a role-play depicting Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after his exile. Our chairman sir, Mr. Sahibjeet Singh Sandhu, director ma’am, principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta and vice- principal ma’am, Ms. Parv Sandhu Makkar graced the event with their presence. Before the culmination of the the event, our Principal ma’am praised the students for their magnificence and motivated them to celebrate the festival in an eco-friendly way.

Goodie Foodie tiffin competition

A healthy mind resides in a healthy body and eating nutritious food plays an important role in maintaining one’s health. Keeping this view in mind, a ‘Goodie Foodie tiffin’ competition was organised on October 15’ 2022 by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh for the students of Kindergarten wing. The students brought several home-made healthy and nutritious food items and presented them in their tiffins with great zeal. They also enjoyed eating their healthy tiffin and shared the same with their friends. The winners were felicitated with certificates of merit in a special assembly by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta.
Yogasana Sports championship

Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh, takes pride in acknowledging the victory and hard work of its students. The Punjab Yoga Association conducted the 47th Sub Junior and Junior National Yogasana Sports championship from 28th October, 2022 to 31st October, 2022 in which our students of class IV, Sayum Rana (Group 8: 10-12 years) and Advik (Group A: 8-10 years) represented Chandigarh at Ferozepur city. They received a ‘Souvenir certificate’ for their participation under the guidance of our yoga teacher, Ms. Anita. The students were duly congratulated and praised by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta, for performing to the best of his abilities.

Story Telling Competition

With an aim to develop imagination and stimulate curiosity of the students, an English Story Telling Competition- ‘Voice Over’ was organised for the students of classes LKG and UKG on November 4’ 2022 by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh. The young story-tellers narrated several tales fluently with a twist of humour. The competition not only helped in building the speaking skills of students but also reinforced moral values. Our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta, acknowledged the hard work of each student and congratulated the winners for their wonderful performances.
Mark the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Field trips are not only meant for fun but they can also act as valuable learning experiences for young children. They help build background knowledge, confidence and vocabulary that are important for success in both school and life. With this aim and to mark the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the kindergarten students of Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh visited a Gurudwara Sahib on November 7’ 2022. Apart from seeking blessings, the students also enjoyed singing and travelling in the bus and eating prasad. Overall, it was a day full of fun and frolic that also imbibed religious values amongst the students.
Trip to Chowki Dhani

In order to stir up students’ excitement and polish their social skills, a trip to ‘Chowki Dhani’ was organised by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on November 11’ 2022 for the students of classes I-III. Taking a break from the usual routine allowed the students to freshen their minds and be more in sync with their inner selves. The scenic beauty of the place with a touch of India’s rich culture and heritage mesmerised each and every student. The trip also fostered a sense of coordination and team work among the students as they learnt how to adjust in a different social setting.
Trip to Science city

Educational trips play a vital role in enhancing the critical thinking abilities of students on multiple levels. With this notion in mind, an educational trip to ‘Science city, Kapurthala’ was organised by Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh on November 11’ 2022. The students of classes IV-VIII not only enjoyed the trip to the fullest but also made keen observations throughout their visit. The life-like animal structures, experience in the simulated flight, laser theatre and the dinosaur park were some of the key attractions that provided ample learning opportunities for the students. The visit proved to be fruitful as each child gained a chance to broaden their horizon and acknowledge the scientific knowledge our world has to offer.

National Library Week cum Children’s Day

Paragon Convent School, Sector 24, Chandigarh, strives to nurture it’s students in both curricular and co-curricular aspects and proudly acknowledges the achievement of it’s students. The T.S. Central State Library in association with Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi organised several competitions to commemorate the National Library Week cum Children’s Day on November 16’ 2022. Under this event, our students, Aisha Negi (class V) and Vaishnavi (class VI) participated in the ‘Bookmark making’ competition while Akhil Thakur (class VII) and Bhuwan (class VIII) participated in the ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’ competition. Akhil Thakur, with his eloquent speech and expression, secured the third position and brought great laurels to the school with his accomplishment under the able guidance of our Punjabi teacher, Ms. Rupinder. The winner as well as the participants were duly recognised and appreciated by our Principal ma’am, Mrs. Rajni Dutta, who also motivated them for attaining greater heights in future as well!
